Cabo Verde Barometric Pressure Map
Depending on how many places we monitor in Cabo Verde, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.Trends Today
Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.
Most volatile
Least volatile
How is it calculated?
Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.
Weather Systems
Cabo Verde’s air pressure often changes because of weather systems over the Atlantic Ocean. Strong winds from the northeast, called the trade winds, bring stable high pressure. Sometimes, low-pressure systems travel near or over the islands in the summer and fall, bringing wind and storms.
Geography
The islands’ location off Africa's west coast means they sit between the dry Sahara Desert and the cooler ocean. Mountains on some islands also block or channel winds, so air pressure may be different from one island to another.
Seasonal Cycles
During winter, there is usually higher air pressure because the Azores High, a large high-pressure zone, stretches toward Cabo Verde. In summer, pressure drops as the Intertropical Convergence Zone moves north. This can bring thunderstorms or even hurricanes nearby.
Climate Change
Climate change may make air pressure patterns in Cabo Verde less predictable. Warming seas could shift high and low-pressure zones, leading to more storms, longer dry periods, or stronger winds in the future.
Places in Cabo Verde
You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Cabo Verde Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Cabo Verde to keep you informed.
Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
