Eritrea Barometric Pressure Map

Depending on how many places we monitor in Eritrea, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.

Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.

Most volatile

Least volatile

How is it calculated?

Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.

Weather Systems

Eritrea’s air pressure is shaped by regional weather systems. In winter, cool dry air from the northeast, called the Northeast Monsoon, raises air pressure. In summer, the Southwest Monsoon pulls in warm, moist air from the ocean, which lowers air pressure. These shifts create Eritrea’s wet and dry seasons.

Geography

Mountains and lowlands in Eritrea make air pressure uneven. High mountain areas have lower air pressure because the air is thinner. Coastal plains and lowlands have higher air pressure because the air is denser near sea level. This mix creates local winds and affects rainfall.

Seasonal Cycles

Air pressure in Eritrea changes with the seasons. In winter, pressure is higher and dry winds blow, making rain rare. In summer, pressure drops and moist air arrives, causing most of the year’s rain. These cycles repeat every year, setting the pattern for farming and daily life.

Climate Change

Climate change is starting to shift air pressure patterns in Eritrea. Warmer temperatures can lead to stronger or weaker seasonal winds. This might change how much it rains and when wet or dry seasons happen. Sudden pressure changes can also bring unpredictable storms more often than before.

Places in Eritrea

You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Eritrea Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Eritrea to keep you informed.

Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
