Fiji Barometric Pressure Map

Depending on how many places we monitor in Fiji, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.

Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.

Most volatile

Least volatile

How is it calculated?

Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.

Weather Systems

Tropical cyclones and trade winds are the main weather systems that change air pressure in Fiji. Cyclones cause sudden drops in pressure, while trade winds create steady patterns. High-pressure systems from the southeast also bring clear and dry weather.

Geography

Fiji’s islands are surrounded by ocean, so sea breezes influence local air pressure. Mountains in Fiji change air flow, causing higher pressure on windward sides and lower pressure on sheltered sides. Warm ocean water helps keep air pressure fairly steady most of the time.

Seasonal Cycles

During summer, warmer temperatures lower air pressure over Fiji. In winter, cooler weather causes higher air pressure. Pressure changes are stronger during El Niño and La Niña years, making storms and wind patterns less predictable.

Climate Change

Climate change is making Fiji’s weather more extreme. Ocean temperatures are rising, which can cause bigger differences in air pressure. This means stronger storms and more sudden changes in weather. The yearly pressure cycles may become less regular over time.

Places in Fiji

You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Fiji Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Fiji to keep you informed.

Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
