Ghana Barometric Pressure Map
Depending on how many places we monitor in Ghana, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.Trends Today
Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.
How is it calculated?
Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.
Weather Systems
Ghana’s air pressure gets influenced by two main weather systems. The Harmattan winds bring dry, dusty air from the Sahara in winter, creating high pressure in the north. Later, the moist monsoon winds from the Atlantic replace them, bringing low pressure and rain from south to north.
Geography
Ghana’s geography changes how air pressure spreads. The north is drier and more open, so pressure changes there are bigger and faster. Near the coast, the land is wetter and the ocean cools the air, evening out the pressure and making sudden changes less common.
Seasonal Cycles
Across the year, Ghana’s pressure follows the rainy and dry seasons. In the dry Harmattan season, the north feels higher pressure and cooler winds. When the rainy monsoon comes, pressure drops in the south first, then shifts north as rain moves upward.
Climate Change
Climate change is starting to shift pressure trends in Ghana. Hotter temperatures make air pressure less steady. Stronger and longer Harmattan events or heavier monsoons can happen, changing when and how suddenly air pressure changes throughout the country.
Places in Ghana
You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Ghana Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Ghana to keep you informed.
Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
