Gambia Barometric Pressure Map

Depending on how many places we monitor in Gambia, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.

Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.

Most volatile

Least volatile

How is it calculated?

Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.

Weather Systems

Atlantic winds called the Harmattan and monsoon clouds from the southwest change air pressure in The Gambia. The Harmattan brings dry air and high pressure, while monsoon weather brings wet air and lower pressure.

Geography

The Gambia is a narrow country along a river near the Atlantic Ocean. The ocean’s cool air and the flat river valley make air pressure levels change quickly across short distances.

Seasonal Cycles

During the dry season from November to May, air pressure is usually high because of the dry, cool winds from the Sahara. In the rainy season from June to October, pressure drops as warm, moist air comes from the Atlantic, bringing storms and rain.

Climate Change

Climate change warms the ocean and air, which can make pressure patterns less stable. This might cause stronger storms in the rainy season and shifts in the timing of wet and dry weather.

Places in Gambia

You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Gambia Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Gambia to keep you informed.

Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
