Haiti Barometric Pressure Map
Depending on how many places we monitor in Haiti, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.Trends Today
Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.
Most volatile
- Port-au-Prince: 0.45
Least volatile
- Port-au-Prince: 0.45
How is it calculated?
Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.
Weather Systems
Big weather systems like the North Atlantic High and the Caribbean Low affect air pressure in Haiti. When the North Atlantic High is strong, it brings higher pressure and drier air. Hurricanes and tropical storms, which are common in summer and fall, create low pressure and heavy rains.
Geography
Haiti’s mountains change how air pressure moves across the country. Pressure is usually lower in the valleys and coastal areas because warm air rises there. In the mountains, air is cooler and pressure is a bit higher, which sometimes means storms get trapped and bring more rain.
Seasonal Cycles
In winter, pressure is higher over Haiti because cooler, drier air comes from the north. In summer, pressure drops as the air heats up and humidity rises, making it easier for storms to form. These seasonal changes help shape patterns of rain and dry weather.
Climate Change
Climate change may cause more extreme pressure shifts. Scientists expect more intense storms, stronger heat waves, and longer dry periods. These changes happen because rising temperatures mess with old pressure cycles, making weather less predictable for Haiti.
Places in Haiti
You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Haiti Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Haiti to keep you informed.
Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
