Israel Barometric Pressure Map
Depending on how many places we monitor in Israel, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.Trends Today
Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.
Most volatile
- Jerusalem: 0.45
- Petah Tikva: 0.42
- Safed: 0.4
- Tel Aviv: 0.4
Least volatile
- Safed: 0.4
- Tel Aviv: 0.4
- Petah Tikva: 0.42
- Jerusalem: 0.45
How is it calculated?
Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.
Weather Systems
Israel's air pressure is influenced by several weather systems. In winter, low-pressure systems from the Mediterranean bring rain. In summer, the subtropical ridge, a high-pressure area, covers Israel and keeps the weather dry and hot. Sometimes, low-pressure systems from the east and southeast bring heat waves or dry winds.
Geography
Geography affects air pressure across Israel. The Mediterranean Sea causes higher humidity and slightly lower pressure near the coast. Inland, mountains and valleys cause pressure differences. The Dead Sea, below sea level, always has higher air pressure than the rest of the country.
Seasonal Cycles
Pressure patterns in Israel change with the seasons. In winter, pressure often drops as storms move in from the west. In summer, strong high pressure dominates, making the weather stable and dry. During spring and autumn, pressure changes are frequent and can bring sudden weather shifts.
Climate Change
Climate change is affecting pressure trends in Israel. Winters are becoming shorter and less rainy, so low-pressure systems visit less often. High-pressure systems in summer last longer and get stronger, bringing longer heatwaves and less rain each year.
Places in Israel
You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Israel Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Israel to keep you informed.
Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
