Isle of Man Barometric Pressure Map

Depending on how many places we monitor in Isle of Man, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.

Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.

Most volatile

Least volatile

How is it calculated?

Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.

Weather Systems

The Isle of Man often feels the effects of large weather systems like the Atlantic depressions and high-pressure systems from Europe. Low-pressure systems usually bring rain and wind, while high-pressure systems can bring calm, clear weather.

Geography

The island’s position in the Irish Sea and its hilly landscape influence air pressure patterns. Sea breezes can change local pressure, and hills can cause small areas of different pressure on the island, affecting wind and weather.

Seasonal Cycles

In winter, low-pressure systems are more common and frequent, bringing stormy, wet weather. In summer, high-pressure systems visit more often, leading to drier and calmer conditions overall.

Climate Change

Climate change is making weather patterns less predictable. Some studies show storms and pressure changes could get stronger or happen more often, which might mean more extreme weather for the Isle of Man in the future.

Places in Isle of Man

You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Isle of Man Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Isle of Man to keep you informed.
