Iraq Barometric Pressure Map
Depending on how many places we monitor in Iraq, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.Trends Today
Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.
Most volatile
Least volatile
How is it calculated?
Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.
Weather Systems
Weather systems like the subtropical high and Mediterranean depressions influence air pressure in Iraq. In summer, high pressure from the Arabian Peninsula dominates, keeping skies mostly clear. In winter, low pressure systems from the Mediterranean bring clouds, rain, and wind to the region.
Geography
Iraq’s geography shapes its pressure patterns. The Zagros Mountains in the northeast block rain and can trap cooler air, leading to different pressure zones. The flat plains in central and southern Iraq let pressure systems move easily, causing quicker weather changes compared to the mountain areas.
Seasonal Cycles
Pressure cycles change with the seasons. In summer, strong high-pressure systems bring hot, dry weather. In winter, low pressure from the west brings rain and cooler temperatures. In spring and autumn, pressure changes fast, leading to wind and dust storms.
Climate Change
Climate change affects air pressure trends in Iraq. Heatwaves are getting worse as high pressure stays longer in summer. Winter low-pressure systems are less reliable, sometimes bringing less rain. These changes can affect farming, water supplies, and may cause more extreme weather events.
Places in Iraq
You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Iraq Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Iraq to keep you informed.
Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
