Iran Barometric Pressure Map
Depending on how many places we monitor in Iran, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.Trends Today
Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.
How is it calculated?
Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.
Weather Systems
Several major weather systems affect air pressure in Iran. In the summer, the low-pressure system over southwest Asia draws in hot, dry winds. In winter, high-pressure systems from Siberia can push cold air into northern Iran, raising air pressure there.
Geography
Iran’s geography shapes how air pressure is spread. The Zagros and Alborz mountains block and direct wind, causing higher pressure on one side and lower pressure on the other. Desert regions like Dasht-e Kavir often have lower pressure, while mountains tend to have higher pressure.
Seasonal Cycles
Seasonal changes bring clear pressure cycles. In winter, cold air makes pressure higher, especially in the north and west. In summer, heat lowers pressure, mainly in the south and central deserts. These patterns help cause Iran’s different climates across regions.
Climate Change
Climate change is making pressure patterns less predictable. Warmer conditions increase heatwaves and shift the timing and strength of pressure systems. Some areas may get longer or more intense low-pressure periods, causing more droughts or wind storms.
Places in Iran
You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Iran Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Iran to keep you informed.
Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
