Jersey Barometric Pressure Map

Depending on how many places we monitor in Jersey, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.

Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.

Most volatile

Least volatile

How is it calculated?

Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.

Weather Systems

Weather systems like low-pressure storms and high-pressure ridges often pass over Jersey. Low pressure usually brings clouds and rain, while high pressure usually brings calm, clear weather. Atlantic storms frequently move in from the west, affecting Jersey’s pressure patterns throughout the year.

Geography

Jersey is an island surrounded by water, which helps moderate air pressure changes. The English Channel keeps sudden shifts less extreme by balancing temperatures. Jersey’s flat land means local pressure stays fairly uniform, so big differences between places on the island are rare.

Seasonal Cycles

In winter, strong low-pressure systems are more common, so the weather is often windy and unsettled. Summer usually brings higher pressure, leading to more sunshine and quieter weather. Spring and autumn show more mixed pressure as the island shifts between the colder and warmer seasons.

Climate Change

Climate change may cause pressure patterns to shift over time. As the air and sea warm, storms might grow stronger or arrive more often, leading to bigger swings between high and low pressure. This could mean more unusual weather for Jersey in the future.

Places in Jersey

You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Jersey Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Jersey to keep you informed.

Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
