Liberia Barometric Pressure Map
Depending on how many places we monitor in Liberia, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.Trends Today
Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.
How is it calculated?
Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.
Weather Systems
Liberia’s air pressure is mostly affected by the movement of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and the West African Monsoon. The ITCZ is a belt of low pressure that brings rain when it moves north over Liberia, while the Monsoon brings humid winds from the Atlantic Ocean.
Geography
Liberia’s geography affects how air pressure is distributed. The coastline is low and flat, so sea breezes often bring moist air and lower pressure. Inland, there are hills and plateaus, which can cause local pressure changes as air moves over and around higher ground.
Seasonal Cycles
Pressure patterns change with the seasons. During the rainy season from May to October, the ITCZ moves north and pressure drops, bringing lots of storms. In the dry season from November to April, dry winds from the Sahara (the Harmattan) blow in, raising pressure and causing cooler, dusty air.
Climate Change
Climate change is causing some pressure trends to shift. Rising temperatures can make pressure differences bigger, which might mean stronger storms and changes in when rainy and dry seasons start. Scientists are watching these trends closely to predict future weather.
Places in Liberia
You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Liberia Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Liberia to keep you informed.
Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
