Mongolia Barometric Pressure Map

Depending on how many places we monitor in Mongolia, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.

Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.

Most volatile

Least volatile

How is it calculated?

Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.

Weather Systems

Large weather systems, like the Siberian High and Asian summer monsoon, affect air pressure in Mongolia. In winter, the Siberian High brings cold, dry air with high pressure. In summer, the monsoon pulls in warmer, moister air with lower pressure.

Geography

Mongolia’s high altitude and mountains block and steer winds. The Altai and Khangai Mountains split air masses, causing local differences in pressure. Valleys can trap cold air, raising pressure there. Wide steppe plains let air move freely, leveling out pressure.

Seasonal Cycles

In winter, extremely high pressure dominates because of cold, heavy air. This makes Mongolia one of the world’s pressure centers then. In summer, warming temperatures lower pressure, leading to more wind and storms. Spring and autumn show quick changes as seasons shift.

Climate Change

Climate change causes Mongolia’s winters to warm and summers to get hotter. Warmer air means air pressure is not as high in winter as before. Summer low-pressure systems may get stronger or last longer, leading to more erratic, unpredictable weather.

Places in Mongolia

You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Mongolia Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Mongolia to keep you informed.

Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
