Maldives Barometric Pressure Map
Depending on how many places we monitor in Maldives, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.Trends Today
Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.
How is it calculated?
Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.
Weather Systems
Two main weather systems affect air pressure in the Maldives: the Southwest Monsoon and the Northeast Monsoon. During the Southwest Monsoon (May to October), lower air pressure brings strong winds and rain. The Northeast Monsoon (December to March) has higher pressure, so it is usually drier and calmer.
Geography
The Maldives is a flat, low-lying island nation in the Indian Ocean. Because there are no mountains or large landforms, air pressure changes quickly as weather systems move through. Surrounding warm ocean waters help keep temperatures and pressure fairly uniform across the islands.
Seasonal Cycles
Air pressure in the Maldives goes through regular cycles each year. In the wet monsoon, air pressure drops, which invites storms and heavy rains. When the dry monsoon arrives, the air pressure rises again, bringing sunny and stable weather.
Climate Change
Climate change can shift these pressure patterns. As ocean temperatures rise, the strength and timing of the monsoon winds may change. This could make weather more unpredictable and increase the risk of storms or flooding on the islands in the future.
Places in Maldives
You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Maldives Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Maldives to keep you informed.
Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
