Mexico Barometric Pressure Map

Depending on how many places we monitor in Mexico, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.

Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.

Most volatile

Least volatile

How is it calculated?

Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.

Weather Systems

Mexico's air pressure is influenced by weather systems like the North American High and the Intertropical Convergence Zone. Sometimes, cold fronts from the north also reach Mexico, bringing changes in pressure and causing storms or cooler air.

Geography

Mountains, plateaus, and coastal plains change how air pressure works in Mexico. Higher places like Mexico City have lower air pressure because they are farther above sea level. Coastal areas have higher air pressure, especially near the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean.

Seasonal Cycles

In winter, high pressure builds over the central and northern parts of Mexico, often bringing dry weather. In summer, low pressure forms in the south, mostly due to heat and the arrival of tropical systems, which can cause heavy rains.

Climate Change

Climate change is altering air pressure trends in Mexico. Warming temperatures shift pressure patterns, making some areas drier and raising the risk of heat waves. Changing ocean temperatures can also affect the strength and track of high and low pressure systems.

Places in Mexico

You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Mexico Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Mexico to keep you informed.

Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
