Solomon Islands Barometric Pressure Map

Depending on how many places we monitor in Solomon Islands, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.

Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.

Most volatile

Least volatile

How is it calculated?

Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.

Weather Systems

Weather systems like the South Pacific Convergence Zone (SPCZ) and trade winds often shape air pressure in the Solomon Islands. When the SPCZ moves over the islands, clouds and rain form, which usually brings lower air pressure.

Geography

The Solomon Islands are scattered across the ocean, with mountains on some larger islands. Tall mountains can cause pressure to drop on the windward side and rise on the sheltered side. The sea around helps keep pressures more balanced, especially compared to bigger continents.

Seasonal Cycles

There are seasonal cycles in air pressure. From November to April, the wet season brings lower pressure, more rain, and the chance of cyclones. During the dry season from May to October, higher pressure and steady trade winds are more common, so weather is usually calmer.

Climate Change

Climate change causes ocean temperatures to rise. Warmer seas can make air pressure patterns less stable, leading to stronger storms, more intense rainfall, or unusual pressure shifts. These changes can make weather in the Solomon Islands less predictable.

Places in Solomon Islands

You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Solomon Islands Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Solomon Islands to keep you informed.

Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
