Slovakia Barometric Pressure Map

Depending on how many places we monitor in Slovakia, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.

Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.

Most volatile

Least volatile

How is it calculated?

Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.

Weather Systems

Slovakia’s air pressure changes when weather systems like Atlantic cyclones and Siberian anticyclones pass through. Cyclones bring low pressure, often causing clouds and rain. Anticyclones cause high pressure, which usually means dry, clear weather. These systems regularly move in and out of Slovakia, changing the air pressure.

Geography

The country’s geography plays a big role in pressure distribution. The Carpathian Mountains in the north block some cold air, while lowlands in the south and east allow pressure systems to move more freely. Pressure can differ between mountain areas and valleys at the same time.

Seasonal Cycles

Air pressure in Slovakia follows a seasonal cycle. Winter usually brings longer periods of high pressure from the east, leading to cold, stable weather. In summer, low-pressure systems from the west bring more rain and storms, so pressure changes more quickly and often.

Climate Change

Climate change affects pressure trends by shifting weather patterns. Warmer air may weaken some traditional high or low-pressure systems. This can lead to more unpredictable weather, with pressure changes happening at odd times or for longer periods than before.

Places in Slovakia

You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Slovakia Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Slovakia to keep you informed.

Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
