Chad Barometric Pressure Map
Depending on how many places we monitor in Chad, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.Trends Today
Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.
How is it calculated?
Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.
Weather Systems
Chad is affected by different weather systems that change air pressure. The Sahara Desert to the north brings high pressure, while moist air from the Atlantic Ocean comes from the south, causing lower pressure. Sometimes, dry winds called the Harmattan blow from the northeast, raising air pressure.
Geography
Chad’s geography influences air pressure differences. The north of Chad is mostly desert, which heats up quickly and creates high pressure. In the south, there are savannas and more rainfall, leading to lower air pressure. Mountaintops also have lower air pressure than lower plains.
Seasonal Cycles
In Chad, air pressure changes with the seasons. During the dry season (November to May), high pressure from the north pushes dry winds across the country. During the rainy season (June to October), lower pressure moves up from the south, bringing rain and storms. This switch creates a yearly pressure cycle.
Climate Change
Climate change affects air pressure patterns in Chad. Rising temperatures can increase droughts and change the timing of rainy seasons. This may make high-pressure dry spells last longer while irregular rains from low pressure can cause flooding or storms. Patterns have become less predictable in recent years.
Places in Chad
You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Chad Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Chad to keep you informed.
Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
