Türkiye Barometric Pressure Map

Depending on how many places we monitor in Türkiye, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.

Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.

Most volatile

Least volatile

How is it calculated?

Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.

Weather Systems

Türkiye often gets weather systems from both the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea. Low-pressure systems from the Mediterranean bring wet, stormy weather, while high-pressure systems from the Balkans or Russia bring clear, dry conditions. These changes in air pressure create different types of weather across the country.

Geography

Mountains and coastlines in Türkiye affect how air pressure is spread out. The Taurus Mountains, running parallel to the Mediterranean coast, block some weather systems and keep certain areas drier or wetter. Coastal regions usually have lower air pressure and more humidity, while central regions, like the Anatolian Plateau, often have higher pressure and drier air.

Seasonal Cycles

Air pressure in Türkiye changes with the seasons. In winter, high pressure from the north brings cold, dry air, sometimes causing snow. In summer, low pressure forms over the country, pulling in hot air from the south and raising temperatures. Spring and autumn have more changes between high and low pressure, which brings a mix of rain and sunshine.

Climate Change

Climate change is leading to new air pressure patterns in Türkiye. The differences between high and low pressure are becoming stronger, sometimes causing heavier storms or longer heat waves. Changing sea temperatures also affect how quickly pressure systems move, which can increase the risk of extreme weather.

Places in Türkiye

You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Türkiye Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Türkiye to keep you informed.

Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
