Tuvalu Barometric Pressure Map

Depending on how many places we monitor in Tuvalu, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.

Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.

Most volatile

Least volatile

How is it calculated?

Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.

Weather Systems

Air pressure in Tuvalu is influenced mostly by the movement of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and the South Pacific Convergence Zone (SPCZ). These weather systems cause changes in wind, rainfall, and storms. When the ITCZ and SPCZ are nearby, Tuvalu often experiences low pressure and heavy rain.

Geography

Tuvalu is a group of small, low islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Because it has no mountains or tall land, air flows easily across the islands. The surrounding ocean also keeps temperatures and air pressure steady, with only small changes throughout the year.

Seasonal Cycles

During the year, air pressure in Tuvalu changes with the seasons. The wet season is from November to April, bringing lower pressure and more tropical storms. The dry season lasts from May to October, when air pressure is usually a bit higher and there's less rain.

Climate Change

Climate change makes air pressure patterns in Tuvalu less predictable. Ocean warming can shift the ITCZ and SPCZ, changing when and how much rain falls. More frequent storms and changing winds also affect air pressure, making weather less stable than before.

Places in Tuvalu

You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Tuvalu Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Tuvalu to keep you informed.

Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
