Vanuatu Barometric Pressure Map

Depending on how many places we monitor in Vanuatu, the map displays a sampled set of barometric pressure data to give a clear overview of current conditions.

Here you can see which cities experienced the biggest and smallest changes in barometric pressure today. This helps highlight areas with the most stable or unstable weather patterns.

Most volatile

Least volatile

How is it calculated?

Our volatility “beta” number is generated by an algorithm that analyzes hourly barometric pressure changes. It looks at how much the pressure fluctuates from hour to hour. A beta of 0 means no change, perfectly stable pressure. The higher the decimal value, the more variation there has been throughout the day or over a longer period.

Weather Systems

Tropical weather systems like the South Pacific Convergence Zone and tropical cyclones influence air pressure in Vanuatu. When a cyclone approaches, air pressure drops quickly. High-pressure systems often bring drier, calmer weather between storms.

Geography

Vanuatu is made up of many islands with volcanic mountains. These mountains can block and redirect winds, making air pressure different between the windward and leeward sides. Coastal areas may feel pressure changes faster than mountain valleys.

Seasonal Cycles

During summer, Vanuatu gets low pressure as warm air rises and brings more rain. In winter, high-pressure systems from Australia push into the region, making the weather cooler and drier. These seasonal shifts create regular pressure cycles.

Climate Change

Climate change is causing the seas to warm and weather patterns to shift. This makes extreme lows from cyclones more common and can change the timing and strength of seasonal pressure cycles. Vanuatu may see more pressure swings and unpredictable weather as a result.

Places in Vanuatu

You can find your city in the lists below, by using our search, or on the Vanuatu Pressure Map above. We're tracking barometric pressure across multiple locations in Vanuatu to keep you informed.

Each city includes a pressure status showing whether it's currently high, normal or low, along with two volatility values: one for today and one for the full period, usually 14 days. These help you see how much the pressure is changing over time.
